??WORST
SIN??
I have had people ask me "What is the worst sin in God's eyes?"
Below is what I consider to be the answer!
Worst
Sin, UNBELIEF!
What is
UNBELIEF? Why does God hate it so? The Christian faith goes far beyond knowing what others believe.
It demands that we hold beliefs for ourselves. When Jesus asks, "Who do you say I am?"
He wants us to take a stand for Him. Who do you say Jesus is?
Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. [KJV] . . . Even though Abram demonstrated his
faith through his actions, it was his belief in the Lord, NOT his
actions, that made Abram right with God. We too can have a right
relationship with God by trusting him. Our outward actions: going
to church, prayer, good deeds, will NOT by themselves make us right
with God. A right relationship with Him is based on faith BELIEVING
what He says in His Word. It is the feeling deep within, the inner
confidence that God is who He says He is and He does what He says
He will do. When we believe God, right actions will automatically
follow.
UNBELIEF is simply rejecting God’s Word, refusing to believe what
God says. In other words, it is calling God a "LIAR."
1 John 5:10-12 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the
witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar;
because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11]
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [KJV] . . . All who refuse to believe in the Son of God are actually calling
God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified
about His Son. God has testified here in these verses: He has given
us eternal life, and this life is available only in His Son. Whoever
has God’s Son has eternal life; whoever does not believe God, does
not have His Son, and does NOT have eternal life.
John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; [KJV] . . . The world's sin is simply unbelief in Jesus. God the Father and God the Son are ONE! John 10:30 I and my Father are one. [KJV] . . . According to Jesus (who is God), refusing to believe in Him is sin. God the Father states this in 1 John 5:10-12, and Jesus states it in John 16:9. Jesus’ death on the cross made a personal relationship with God available to us. Jesus is the ONLY way to reach God the Father. When we admit and confess our sin, God declares us righteous and delivers us from judgment for our sins.
Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book,
that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: [KJV] . . . Israel did not want to hear of God’s Holy Commandments and His hatred
of sin. They did not want to be reminded of these things. As they
scorned the Word of God, their sins undermined their safety. Their
condition would be dashed in pieces like a potter’s vessel. What
about today? This is true today too. We should turn away from our
evil ways, and choose to serve Him. We must BELIEVE what God tells us! If we want to be strengthened, it must be
in quietness and in confidence, and by keeping peace in our minds,
and relying totally upon God.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [KJV] . . . Jesus was not condemning the disciples for inferior faith. He was trying to show them just how important faith really is. When you face a problem or trouble that seems as big and immovable as a mountain, turn your eyes AWAY from the mountain and look to Christ for more faith. Keep your eyes on Jesus!
Mark 6:6-A And he marvelled because of their unbelief. . . . [KJV] Only twice does it say that Jesus "marvelled." Here, He "marvelled" at Israel’s unbelief. And in Mat. 8:10, He marvelled at a Gentile’s faith.
Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. [KJV] . . . Trust and confidence in God is what the Bible calls belief or faith (Heb.11:1, 6). It is NOT something we can obtain without His help. Faith is a gift from God (Ephes. 2:8-9). BUT, no matter how much faith we have, we will NEVER reach the point of being self-sufficient. Faith is NOT stored away like money in the bank. Growing in faith is a CONSTANT process of daily renewing our trust in Jesus. The father of the sick child asked Jesus to help his unbelief. The apostles asked the Lord to increase their faith (Luke 17:5). We too can ask for this prescious gift.
Mark 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. [KJV] . . . The eleven disciples had doubts that Jesus had risen. They refused to believe those who had seen our risen Lord.
Romans 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [KJV] . . . Abraham never wavered in believing God’s Promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and because of this he brought glory to God.
Romans 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: [KJV] . . . Those branches (the Jews), were broken off because they didn’t believe God, and you are there (grafted in) because you do believe. Don’t ever think too highly of yourself because of this, but fear what could happen.
Romans 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. [KJV] . . . But if the Jews turn from their unbelief, God will graft them back into the tree again. He has the power to do it. God loves the Jews.
Romans 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: [KJV] . . . Someday the faithful, believing Jews will share in God’s mercy. God’s plans will not be hindered: He will "have mercy on them all." For a beautiful picture of Jews and Gentiles experiencing rich blessings, see Isaiah 60.
Romans 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. [KJV] . . . We are imprisoned in our own disobedience.
1 Tim. 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. [KJV] . . . Paul scoffed at the Name of Christ, and hunted down Christ’ followers, harming them in every way he could. But God had mercy on him because he did it in ignorance and unbelief. But Paul did not stay in the state of unbelief! He turned to Jesus! (Acts chapter 9).
Hebrews 3:12 Take
heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief,
in departing from the living God. [KJV] . . . Our hearts turn away from the living God when we stubbornly refuse
to believe Him. If we persist in our unbelief, God will finally
leave us alone in our sin. God can give us new hearts, new desires,
and new spirits IF we allow him to do so (Ezekiel 36:22-27). To
prevent unbelief, stay in fellowship with other believers, talk
about your faith, be aware of the deceitfulness of sin, and encourage
each other with love and concern.
Hebrews 3:19 So
we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. [KJV] . . . The Israelites failed to enter the Promised Land because they did
not believe God. They did not believe that God would help them conquer
the giants in the land (Numbers 14-15). When we do not trust
and believe God, it always prevents us from receiving His best.
Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: [KJV] . . . God gave the Israelites the opportunity to enter Canaan, but they disobeyed and refused to enter (Numbers 13-14). God offers us the opportunity to enter His ultimate place of rest (Heaven). He graciously invites us to come to Christ. To enter His rest, you must believe God; you must trust in Christ for it; and you must decide to obey Him. Today is the best time to find peace with God. Tomorrow may be too late.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. [KJV] . . . God wants us to enter His rest. For the Israelites this rest was the earthly rest to be found in the Promised Land. For Christians, it is peace with God NOW and ETERNAL LIFE later.. We do not need to wait for the next life to enjoy God’s rest and peace; we can have it now! Our daily rest in the Lord will not end with death, but will become an eternal rest in the place that Christ is preparing for us (John 14:1-4). Jesus has provided for our rest through faith, so we must "make every effort to enter that rest"? This is NOT doing good in order to appreciate and benefit from salvation. This is making every effort to obtain what God has already provided. Salvation is NOT to be taken for granted; we must accept the gift God offers, and this is done by believing God and accepting His Son. It requires decision and commitment.
BELIEF
John
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
[KJV] . . . To "believe"
is much MORE than agreeing that Jesus is God. We must be willing
to place our complete trust and confidence in Him, believing that
He alone can save us. We must place Christ in charge of all our
present plans and our eternal destiny. Are you willing to do that?
Believing is both trusting His Words as reliable, and relying on
Him for the power to change us. If you have never trusted Christ,
let this Promise of everlasting life be yours! Believe God!
John 3:36 He
that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth
not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on
him. [KJV] . . . All who believe in Jesus have (NOT will have) everlasting life (John 5:24). Eternal life begins at the moment of spiritual rebirth (John 1:12-13; 3:3). John, the author of this Gospel, tells us that Jesus is the one and only true Son of God. Jesus places before us the greatest decision we will ever make in this life. We must decide today whom we will obey (Joshua 24:15). God wants us to choose Him and life (Deut. 30:15-20). The wrath of God is God’s final judgment and rejection of the sinner. IF you put off the choice, it is the same as choosing NOT to follow Christ. Indecision is a fatal decision. You cannot straddle the fence. You must decide, Jesus and eternal life OR stay with Satan and go to Hell (Eph.2:1-2; 1 John 3:10).
John 20:31 But
these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his
name. [KJV] . . . Jesus was/is the promised
Messiah. He is the Saviour of sinners. He is the Son of God. IF
you believe this by faith, you have eternal life. It is a gift from
God by His grace, mercy, truth, and power. Believing that Jesus
is the Christ, believing through His Name gives us eternal life
in Heaven with God. John wrote the Gospel that we might believe!
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. [KJV]
Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [KJV]
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. [KJV]
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV]
This is a very basic and very important passage in Scripture. How can we access God? Only through Jesus. Jesus is the Way because He is both God and Man. When we believe, we unite our lives with Jesus, thus we are united with God. Believing and trusting Jesus will take you to God the Father, and then, all the benefits of being God’s child are yours.
Jesus says that He is the ONLY WAY to God the Father. Many people argue that this way is too narrow, too small. But the Truth is, it is wide enough for the whole world, IF the world chooses to accept it. Instead of thinking about how limited it sounds to have only one way, we should be saying, "Thank you, God, for providing a sure way to get to You!"
As the Way, Jesus is our one and only Path to the Father. As the Truth, He is the reality of all God’s Promises. As the Life, He joins His divine life to ours, both now and forever.
Acts 4:12 Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. [KJV] . . . Millions will not accept the fact that there is no other name than
that of Jesus to call on for salvation. The church did not decide
this, it is the explicit teaching of Jesus Himself (John 14:6) above.
Since God Himself determined that Jesus would be the Saviour of
the world, no one else
can be His equal. Christians can be open-minded on many issues,
but never on how we are saved from sin and the wrath of God (God’s
holy anger). No other religious teacher could die for our sins;
no other religious teacher came to earth as God’s only Son; no other
religious teacher rose from the dead; JUST JESUS. We should focus
only on Jesus, whom God offered as the only Way to have an eternal
relationship with Himself. There is no other name, no other way! JUST JESUS! I pray that you believe this. Do NOT let unbelief send
you to the devil’s destination, Hell (Mat.25:41).
Do NOT let false teachers distort the Truth about Jesus and preach a different Jesus, a different spirit than the Holy Spirit, and a different gospel than God’s one and only way of salvation. Because the Bible is God’s Word and is never wrong, those who teach anything different from what it says, are WRONG and are misleading people. BEWARE! False teachers do NOT teach the TRUTH about Jesus. They teach another Jesus (2 Cor.11:4; Gal.1:7-8), and another gospel. BEWARE!!! They are the devil's children (1 Jn.3:10), and will lead you to HELL!!!
Believe the TRUTH about CHRIST JESUS . . .
