What is Individual Faith?
The EXISTENCE of God has been manifested in every person in his unregenerate (unsaved) state by the characteristics of God clearly seen in all of His Creation, so that NO one is without excuse for rejecting the eternal Godhead.
Romans 1:18-23 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. (KJV) . . . Emphasis mine.
This Scripture is in total opposition to the false doctrine of Total Depravity in which one is considered to be blind and deaf to the things of God. In these verses, we read: "even His eternal power and Godhead," which is a direct confirmation of the Christian doctrine of the Triune Godhead; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Romans 3:21-26 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (KJV)
The Bible confirms man's ability to respond to the Gospel, even while in a fallen state in which he has been since the fall of Adam. Although the natural man (unsaved, unbeliever) is a sinner, the following verses are in clear contradiction to the FALSE doctrines of Total Depravity or Total Inability, which FALSELY teach that the unregenerate man does not have the ability to believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ for his salvation. The Bible firmly teaches that every person is given a measure of faith and has been enlightened by Jesus Christ while still in his unsaved, fallen state.
Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. (KJV)
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (KJV)
John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (KJV)
Acts 10:1-4 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. (KJV) . . . Cornelius was a Gentile, not a Jew. He could not be classified as one of the elect, but God accepted him based on his faith. These verses oppose the damnable heresies of Total Depravity or Total Inability and Unconditional Election.
Acts 11:1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. (KJV)
Acts 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? (KJV)
Acts 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. (KJV)
ALL mankind, Jews and Gentiles, are commanded in the Scriptures to believe in God and Jesus Christ. These verses overthrow the false doctrines of Total Depravity, Total Inability and Unconditional Election. Mark 16:16, John 20:31, Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9, 1 John 3:23 and 1 John 5:13 have absolutely NO meaning without the free will of mankind. God calls upon mankind to believe in Christ because mankind has the free will to believe OR reject Christ. God would have no reason to call upon mankind to believe if mankind were in a state of Total Depravity or Total Inability to respond.
The Bible says that we DO have the choice . . . ALL who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (Jn.3:16; Rom.10:9-10). The Bible NEVER describes God as rejecting anyone who believes in Him or turning away anyone who is seeking Him (Deut.4:29). In some way, in the mystery of God, predestination works hand-in-hand with a person being drawn by God (Jn.6:44) and our believing unto salvation (Rom.1:16). God does predestine WHO will be saved, BUT we must choose Christ in order to be saved. Both facts are equally true. Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (KJV)
The way I look at this, individual faith is your personal faith in Jesus! NO one can take your place with God! This is a one-on-One thing! You must have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, or you are God's enemy! Believe the Bible! NOT man's cock-eyed heresies.
