Forgiveness From God

Forgiveness, in the end, must come from God. He is the Creator, Sustainer and Judge of ALL people. Our awesome Triune God is loving (John 3:16), and He is not willing that any should perish (2 Pet.3:9), meaning He does not want them to be condemned to Hell (John 3:17-19).
But, even though God is also just and holy, BEFORE He can forgive us, His justice must be satisfied. Thankfully, He designed a Way to satisfy both His love and His justice by sending His Son for us (John 3:15-16). Jesus Christ paid the penalty for OUR sins with His Blood, dying on the cross in our place.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)
1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (KJV)
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (KJV)

God does NOT offer His forgiveness to us on the basis of our good works or by any church membership. He provides forgiveness and eternal life to us as a gift.
John 3:15-16 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)
Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)
Anyone who is willing to turn from his sin and receive Jesus Christ as his personal Savior by faith is set free from the penalty of sin and the burden of his guilt. He is born into God's family (John 1:12-13; 3:3-8; 1 John 3:9; 4:7; 5:1,4). Saving faith requires that we ask for the salvation which God has provided. http://www.godcannotlie.org/saving_faith.htm

Forgiveness comes when we ask by FAITH for the salvation which God has provided.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV)
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (KJV)
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (KJV)

1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (KJV)

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ guarantee the availability of forgiveness to all those who have FAITH in His Work on the cross for us. FAITH is a necessary MUST to claim the reality of forgiveness.
