Chpter 8, God the Father, As a Witness

Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (KJV) At Jesus’ baptism.

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. (KJV) God’s voice at the Transfiguration of Jesus.

Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (KJV) God the Father owned His Son, Jesus, when He submitted to John’s baptism. The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus like a dove.

Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. (KJV) God speaks at the Transfiguration of Jesus. God the Father accepts Him as His beloved Son.

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (KJV) At the baptism of Jesus, the Trinity is revealed. The Holy Spirit descends upon Jesus, who is also a member of the Trinity, and the heavenly Father speaks from Heaven. All the members of the Trinity are mentioned: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Our ONE God exists in three Persons but is one object, coeternal and coequal and always in harmony. No amount of explanation can adequately portray the power and complexity of this unique relationship. But to be a “Christian” you must believe in the Triune nature of our God.

Luke 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. (KJV) God clearly identified Jesus as His Son before saying that Peter and the others were to listen to Jesus. The ability to follow Jesus comes from confidence in knowing who He is. If we believe He is God’s Son, then we certainly will want to do what He tells us. The transfiguration of Jesus was a prelude of the glory in which He will come to judge the world one day. Several of the prophets saw the glorified Christ (GOD) and fell to the ground as though they were dead (Eze.1:28; Dan.10:5-6; Rev.1:12-17).

John 12:27-28 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. [28] Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. (KJV) The voice of the Father from Heaven, which had declared Jesus to be His beloved Son: at His baptism, and when He was Transfigured, and here before Jesus’ crucifixion, was heard proclaiming that He had both glorified His Name, and would glorify it. And will glorify it again . . . that is, in the yet future scenes of His still deeper need; although this Promise was a present and noble testimony, it would enlighten the then darkened spirit of Jesus, the Son of Man. Jesus was God! Yes, 100 % God, but He was also 100 % Man and here the Man knew the horrific death that awaited Him.

2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (KJV) Peter is referring to the Transfiguration where Jesus’ divine identity was revealed to him, James and John. The Transfiguration of Christ Jesus was a tiny picture of the Kingdom that was to come. Moses and Elijah appeared there with Christ on the mountain. Moses represents the Law in the O.T. and Elijah represents the prophets. They were discussing Jesus’ upcoming death and His passing from this world, back into the Presence of His Father. That is what they had written about in the O.T. and that is what they were talking about at the Transfiguration.

False teachers distort the Truth about Jesus and preach a different Jesus, a different spirit than the Holy Spirit, and a different gospel than God’s one and only way of salvation. Because the Bible is God’s Word and is never wrong, those who teach anything different from what it says, are WRONG and are misleading people. BEWARE! False teachers do NOT teach the TRUTH about Jesus. They teach another Jesus (2 Cor.11:4; Gal.1:7-8), and another gospel. BEWARE!!! They are the devil's children (1 Jn.3:10), and will lead you to HELL!!!
