HIS SERVANTS' MINISTRY

Welcome to our website

Weighing Sins, Does God Do That?

Throughout history, humans have always had their own ranking of sins. Certain atrocious sins are too awful to talk about, and discussing other seemingly more minor sins may get you only a brief look of dismay. Some churches categorize sin, such as Catholics classify sin as being either mortal (major) or venial (minor).

The Bible does talk about the consequences of certain sins more than others, but it never gives any kind of ranking to them. Instead, the Bible focuses much of its attention on the fact that ALL sins, major or minor (big and small), stain the soul of a human and ALL sin must one day come under the judgment of God. Anything not 100 % sin-free is NOT pure . . . 99.99 % percent is not all pure! James 2:10  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (KJV) . . . Also: (Deut.27:26; Mat.5:18-19; Gal.3:10).

Degrees of Punishment, and Rewards: http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/L_D_promises_degrees_of_punishment.htm

Degrees of Punishment

Most people never consider that there are degrees of punishment in Hell, just as there are degrees of reward in Heaven. Some Passages below show that there are indeed degrees of punishment in Hell.
Matthew 11:21-24 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. (KJV)
Luke 12:47-48 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. (KJV)

Judgment According to Works

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. (KJV)
Rom. 2:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: (KJV)
1 Cor.3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. (KJV)
2 Tim. 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: (KJV)
1 Pet.1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: (KJV)
Rev. 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. (KJV)
Rev.18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. (KJV)
Rev.20:12-15 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) . .  . Judgment is certain!
Rev.22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (KJV)

It is NOT directly stated that a person's degree of punishment is based on the severity of their sins, but it IS implied in several places. It is also implied by the different degrees of punishment given for different sins in the Mosaic Law.
Exodus 21:23-25 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. (KJV)
Deut.25:2-3 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number. 3 Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee. (KJV) . . . This states that those deserving punishment should not be whipped with more lashes than is right.

Do all sins deserve the same punishment? The Bible does NOT seem to teach that as far as I understand it. YES! Absolutely, sin, ANY sin is hated by God, and any sin shall be punished by Him if the person has not accepted God's one and only Escape Plan . . . JESUS!
1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.(KJV) . . . ALL are destined to Hell without Jesus!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV)
John 3:35-36 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV)
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  . . . Just JESUS can save you!
1 John 5:11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV) . . . You either believe the Bible or be condemned to Hell. The wrath of God is something you do NOT want. Believe this friend!

Although the Bible makes it clear that ALL sin is an offense to God, individual sins impact people differently. The penalties that you shall deal with if you're caught saying a little white lie is much different from the consequences of a mass murder. Yes, I believe that God will weigh sins on Judgment Day! Sins will be judged: According to works:  (Ps.62:12; Pro.24:12,29; Isa.59:18; Jer.21:14; 25:14; 32:19; Lam.3:64; Eze.7:8-9; 18:30; Hos.12:2; Zec.1:6; Mat.16:27; Rom.2:6; 2 Tim.4:14; Rev.2:23; 18:6; 20:12-13; 22:12).
