Applying Christ's Victory
How Can I Apply Christ's Victory Over Sin In My Life?
If it were not for the precious Blood of Jesus (1 Pet.1:18-19), NO victory over sin would ever be possible for anyone. The Blood of Jesus not only saves us, and releases us from the sin nature, it also launches the authority and power (the Holy Spirit) that is needed to have victory over sin. It is necessary for us to know that the Blood of Jesus is more powerful than ANY sin. Have you ever thought that your sins are just way too big, that God could not forgive them? To think that is to lessen and minimize what the Blood of Christ can do. We are not to lose hope.
There is NO sin that is too big for God to forgive.
What about the unpardonable sin? You may ask. My humble opinion on that is . . . IF you have a sincere desire to have victory over sin, you have NOT committed it. I believe that today the unpardonable sin is refusing to believe God (1 John 5:10-12). The Holy Spirit tries to persuade all people to believe God and accept Christ, but IF a person by a hard and unrepentant heart rejects the urging of the Spirit, God will NOT pardon them. That is the unpardonable sin of today. http://hisservants.org/hard_mark.3.28-29_h_s.htm
When we have received a new nature from God, the Blood of Jesus Christ has washed us clean from every sin. We stand pure and holy in the eyes of God. We are "in Christ" (Rom.8:1; 2 Cor.5:17; 12:2; Gal.3:28) which means that when God looks down on us, He does NOT see us and our vile sins, He sees the righteousness of Christ (Rom.3:22-24; 1 Cor.1:30). When we believe God, and accept what Jesus has done for us on the cross, God applies the righteousness of Christ to us, thus justifying us (Rom.1:17; 3:22, 26-28, 30; 4:5, 24-25; 5:1, 9, 18; 9:30; 10:10).
Only when we BELIEVE in FAITH, that Jesus Christ took our sins to the cross with Him can we be justified!
We must see our position in Christ. We are perfect in Him. We must also know that the Blood of Christ (1 Pet.1:18-19), is applied to us by the Holy Spirit Who actively works in our lives . . . and He is far more powerful than any sin (1 Jn.4:4).
The Truth is, a TRUE Christian does NOT have to sin. Sin is defeated in Christ. In Christ we already have victory over sin. Anytime a Christian sins . . . it is because he or she CHOOSES to do so. We have to take responsibility for all of our actions. We cannot pass it on to someone else. When we sin we must come to God, admit that He is right and we are wrong, confess our sin (1 John 1:8-9), ask forgiveness, and seek God's way to overcome that specific sin.
