??SO, WHY DO WE NEED THE TRUTH??
Luke 15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. (KJV) . . . This refers to the ‘prodigal son’.
Prodigal means inconsiderate, uncaring, irresponsible, reckless, wasteful and selfish . . . it is all about me, me, me!!! How many people do you know that fills this bill?
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight . . . this phrase is Jewish, and is found in: Psalm 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. (KJV)
And am no more worthy to be called thy son . . . this refers to someone who is greatly grieved to say this, for it fully expresses a person’s sense of his evil and unworthiness. This is SO true of ALL those who sincerely repent of their sin! Since we are created in the ‘image of God’ (Gen.1:27), we KNOW from the depths of our soul, that sin is an absolute abomination (disgrace, outrage) to Almighty God, and when we come to our senses, we KNOW how much it hurts our God when we sin against Him, when we disobey Him. We KNOW that we are not worthy to be called His child.
When we realize that we have sinned against Heaven and in the Father’s sight, we willingly become His servant. Today’s preachers do NOT understand this. They want to shortcut that process. So instead of the professed convert saying to the Father, “I have sinned against Heaven and in Your sight. I want to be your servant,” he goes to God and says, “I have run out of money. I need some more.” Unbelievers want God to be their servant!
Romans 5:12-13 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (KJV)
People sinned long before the Law was given by God. ALL people belong to a lost and hopeless race without Jesus. They are alienated from God because that is the choice THEY make.
From the time of Adam until Moses, death ruled like a king over all human beings, even those who did not sin the same way Adam did. Even before the Ten Commandments, people were sinners. What a contrast between Adam and Christ, who was yet to come!
Romans 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. (KJV)
What a difference between our sin and God's marvelous gift of forgiveness. Because of Adam, death was brought to many because of his sin of disobedience. BUT this other Man, Christ Jesus, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful and merciful Gift. There is NO comparison between God's Gift and Adam's failure. Humanity died because of ONE person's failure, but the grace of God and the Gift given through the mercy and grace of ONE Person, Christ Jesus, has been showered on all humanity. Because of this we can look forward to something much better than the Garden of Eden!
Heb. 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. (KJV)
Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. (KJV)
“Before faith came” . . . means faith in Jesus Christ who died for us. Until the Lord Jesus Christ came, the Law had mercy because it had a mercy seat. It had an altar where sacrifices for sin could be brought and forgiveness could be obtained. Mercy could be found there. BUT . . . ALL the sacrifices made for sin pointed to Christ.
Before faith came, Paul says we were kept under the Law . . . “shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.” So many people today continue shut up as if they were in a dark dungeon, in love with their sins, completely blinded and lulled fast asleep by Satan, through worldly pleasures, power, fame, money, lust, interests and pursuits. Only an awakened sinner can truly discover their dreadful condition. It is only then that they can feel that the mercy and grace of God are their ONLY hope. The persuasive Holy Spirit, shows sinners their need for Christ, and how to be justified by faith (Gal.2:16).
Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (KJV)
The Mosaic Law CANNOT save us. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Rom.4:5). God REFUSES to accept ANY works of man for salvation. You either do it God’s Way (Christ) OR you are condemned to an eternal Hell (John 3:17-18,36; 8:24; Rev.20:15). God says that our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isa. 64:6).
The Law CANNOT save; it can only condemn. It was NOT given to save sinners but to show them they are sinners. The Law does NOT remove sin; it reveals sin. The Law shows that man is NOT how Hollywood or the world portrays him.
I really don’t understand how people can think there is NO God . . . or that God will NOT punish sin. This absolutely amazes me! I wonder, do these people really think they will go to Heaven? Every time some sinful celebrity dies, the media says: He/she is in Heaven now. THAT is NOT what the Bible states! The Word of God shows us WHO we are and WHAT we are . . . dirty sinners that fall short of the glory of God. That is what the Law says! But, thank God, the precious Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ CAN cleanse us. We are justified by faith in Jesus (Rom.3:24; 5:1).
Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (KJV)
The Law is like advice and guidance given by a teacher to a young child. The Law teaches us what we NEED for salvation; God’s grace gives us that salvation. We CANNOT be saved by keeping the Law . . . for NO one is capable of keeping it. We must have faith in what Christ Jesus did on the Cross. Since Christ came, and faith having come, we are no longer under a teacher . . . the Law. We have something much better!
Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (KJV)
Paul will show in the rest of this chapter, and in the first part of chapter 4, some benefits that we have by trusting Christ that we could never have under Law. The Law cannot give a believer the nature of a child of God. Only Christ can do that. Only faith in Christ can make us children of God (John 1:12-13; 3:3-8). You are a TRUE child of God only by faith in Christ, and that is all that it takes. It is NOT faith PLUS something equals salvation . . . it is faith plus nothing that makes you a child of God. Don’t let cults tell you differently.
“For ye are all sons of God.” . . . HOW? “FAITH in Christ Jesus. Even if you kept the Law, which you CANNOT do, your righteousness still would be FAR inferior to the righteousness of God. To be a child of God requires and demands that Christ Jesus' righteousness be applied to you (1 Cor.1:30). “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). ONLY Jesus is given the power, the authority, the right, to make us children of God!
A Pharisee, Nicodemus, followed the Law extensively, yet he was NOT a child of God. Jesus told him, “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). I want to make this very plain . . . neither your prayers, your gifts, your heritage, multiple rituals, nor your baptism will ever make you a child of God. Only faith in Christ can make you a child of God.

Dear one, today’s church is filled with unfaithful people who cannot see that their sin is dirty and unclean. False preachers stay far away from preaching about the Law, because the people do not want to hear that they are sinners, so . . . there are multitudes and in pews and in the world who do NOT understand that sin is exceedingly sinful (Gen.13:13; Rom.7:13).
If you pay attention to these modern preachers, you will soon see it offers nothing but self-centeredness. It’s me, me, me . . . self-seeking, self-serving and self-centered. Today’ modern church has become the prophesied Laodicean Church in the last days who says that it’s rich and in need of nothing, but it is in truth poor, blind, wretched, miserable, and naked. (Rev.3:14-22).
WHY doesn't this generation wake up??? Every time I think of Jesus’ Words, I think . . . He was SO right! There are Only Two Gates to Eternity . . . and the vast majority shall go to Hell!
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (KJV)
There are only TWO gates leading to eternity. To me, it is so sad that millions CHOOSE the broad way that leads to Hell. That wide gate leads to a big broad road with the devil! Actually, BOTH these roads picture a funnel. Think about it. If you enter the funnel at the broad end, it keeps getting smaller and smaller. The longer a person stays on the broad, dark road, the harder it is to get off! It is dark because it is the devil’s road! That road keeps narrowing until you come to deeper darkness, death, destruction, and finally Hell.
Now, consider the narrow road. Picture it too, as a funnel. On this narrow road, that only a few ever walk, you enter the funnel at the narrow part. That’s where Jesus is! He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He says, “… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Now, on this narrow road, the longer you walk with Him, the wider it gets. Remember that Jesus is Light (John 1:4,9; 8:12), and as long as we walk with Him, the road is brightly lit. In Ezekiel’s prophecy (Ch. 47) there was a river flowing out from the throne of God which began as a little stream and widened out until it became a great river. That pictures the life of a child of God . . . it gets better every day. And the longer we stay on that narrow road, the wider it becomes, and the easier it is to stay on. Words of wisdom: When you pray, thank God, in Jesus’ Name, for His blessings each day.
It is mind boggling to try to understand how this great multitude can fall for the deception of the devil today! IF they could only SEE themselves under the light of God’s Law, the Ten Commandments, they would be sick!
Every professing Christian should obey the warning to “examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.” But most won’t.
1 Cor.11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (KJV)
The word judge in the Bible means ALL aspects of judging: accusing, examining, condemning. . . and here it does mean accusing ourselves, condemning ourselves; examining ourselves . . . How can we do that? If we would stand back and really LOOK at ourselves, we would SEE what we really are . . . and then we could correct what is wrong! IF we judged ourselves, we could correct what is wrong before Judgment Day, then we would not be judged by God in this way. This is talking about believers. We CAN and SHOULD judge ourselves when we are wrong (Ps.32:5).
1 John 1:9-10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (KJV)
If we do NOT judge ourselves, then rest assured that He shall judge us.
The first duty of the righteous Gospel preacher is to declare God’s Law and show the nature of sin. For Satan has attacked the Church hard and strong from the beginning until now, and wants to completely smother it and tread it under foot.
When the Apostle Paul was struck blind on the Road to Damascus, Jesus said to him:
Acts 26:14-18 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. 16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; 17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (KJV)

Dear one, IF you know this same Jesus, you also have the same command that Jesus gave to Saul (Paul) . . . “to open their eyes, and to turn [sinners] from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins.” The way for you to do that is to do it the way Paul did it, and the way Jesus did it . . . and that is to use Bible Scriptures, using the Law (the Ten Commandments) to show this sinful world WHY they need the Saviour.
