The Movement to End Selfism
Now that Selfism has become a theocracy, the rights of Christians are in jeopardy:
To worship freely
To express themselves honestly
To refuse to comply with unbiblical principles
To avoid exposure to the increasing filth pushed out by Selfist proponents who run our schools, governments and media
Efforts to protect Selfists from the burden of Christian values has escalated into a burden of Selfist values on Christians, increasingly violating their rights. To end Selfism is as much about rescuing American culture from slippery slope of Selfism away from God as it is about the defense of our freedoms as Christians . . . because our freedoms shall deteriorate as the new religion of Selfism continues to grow and the religion of Christianity continues to decline.
As it should be, the movement to put an end to Selfism must begin with the Church. There’s a self-inflicted reason why Christianity is in decline . . . not only in growth, but in influence, impact and discernment. The Christian Church is responsible for its challenges because lately it puts up with many false doctrines brought in by false preachers who don’t even profess Christ as Saviour and Lord.
The Christian Church is a place where those “belonging to the Lord” should be, and for building disciples, which was the original purpose of the Church . . . but today the Church’s goal is “customers” for it is simply in pursuit of church members, instead of equipping the members they already have, to seek lost souls in the community. We are to “Go ye” (Mat.29:19-20).
BUT . . . many American churches have actually started to go with this new religion of Selfism! Pastors have become more and more concerned about attracting and retaining those in their congregations because of money. In their fight for growth and survival, churches indirectly support Selfism as they cater to the selfish desires of churchgoers rather than challenging them with what God desires. Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (KJV)
This celebrity crazy has extended even to pastors who attend conferences and stand in line waiting for autographed copies of books by megachurch pastors telling them how to employ Selfist principles to grow their own churches.
Have you seen Selfism permeate your school, workplace and/or church?
The “church” is a PLACE rather than as individuals “belonging to the Lord”, contributing to building institutions and not disciples, the original purpose of the Church redefined its target “customer” in its pursuit of church members, rather than equipping members (the real “church”) to pursue the lost in the community (the real “customer”)
As we’ll discuss more in a couple weeks, most American churches have actually begun to practice this new religion of Selfism as pastors have become increasingly concerned about attracting and retaining congregants. In their fight for growth and survival, churches implicitly advocate Selfism as they cater to the selfish desires of churchgoers (e.g. for an “experience”) rather than challenging them with God’s desires (e.g. to “go and make disciples”). The celebrity crazy has even extended to pastors who attend conferences and stand in line waiting for autographed copies of books by megachurch pastors telling them how to employ Selfist principles to grow their own churches.
