False Doctrines
Universalism
Universalism teaches that all people will be saved. Some say that it is through the atonement of Jesus that ALL will ultimately be reconciled to God. Others say that ALL will go to Heaven one day, whether or not they have trusted in Jesus to save them OR even if they rejected Jesus as Saviour during their lifetime. This does NOT make any sense to me! This is NOT what the BIBLE teaches! False teachers teach this damnable heresy that universal redemption will be realized in the future where God will bring all people to repentance. This repentance can happen while a person lives OR after he has died and lived again in the millennium (as some "Christian universalists" claim). Some universalists even teach that Satan and all demons will one day be reconciled to God. This is an absolute falsehood to anyone who knows the Bible!
Rev. 19:20
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (KJV) Antichrist and the False Prophet are cast alive into HELL! Hell is eternal, for ever!!! Rev.20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
(KJV) Satan shall be tormented day and night for ever in Hell!!! Neither Satan nor even one of his demons will ever be reconciled to God!
Uuniversalistic beliefs are in serious error. People SHALL suffer eternal damnation.
Rev.14:11-12 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. [12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. (KJV) Christians . . . keep your faith in Jesus! Only He can get you to Heaven! . . . Satan and the demonic forces have NO redeemer.
Some in the universalist crowd (who claim to be Christian), yet they deny the doctrine of the Trinity and the incarnation of the Word of God as God the Son. They also deny the personhood and deity of the Holy Spirit. Usually, these denials are held by Unitarian Universalists, though others who are not of the Universalist crowd also deny the Trinity. Those who deny these necessary doctrines CANNOT be classified as Christians.
If you deny the deity of Christ, you deny one of the basic, essential doctrines of salvation. In this sense, those universalists who deny the deity of Christ are in a false religious belief system. When one essential doctrine is denied, many other Biblical doctrines are also denied and salvation is null and void because the object of their faith is false.
There is a denomination known as Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). The UUA can be classified as non-Christian because it denies the deity of Christ, the personhood of the Holy Spirit, etc.
It is not possible to categorize all universalists into one category. Its adherents vary in their beliefs. Some are Arian (God is one person, Jesus is a creation). Some are Trinitarian. Others even lean toward New Age concepts of man's divinity.
Universalism is not really a doctrine that identifies a group. Rather, it is a doctrine of different, contradictory groups, who all claim universalism.
In Universalism, the word "eternal" means "without end" when it comes to salvation, but NOT when referring to damnation, even though the same word is used for both and in the same context in the Bible.
Mat. 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (KJV)
Christian Universalism
Can a TRUE Christian believe in Universalism? "Christian Universalism" is the position that all of mankind will ultimately be saved through Jesus whether or not faith is professed in Him in this life. It claims that God's qualities of love, sovereignty, justice, etc., require that all people be saved and that eternal punishment is a false doctrine. Salvation, they say is NOT from Hell, but from sin.
There are two main groups in Christian Universalism:
- #1 Those who teach that the unrepentant will be punished in a future state, and that their punishment will be proportional to the degree of sin committed in the mortal state. They generally hold that the punishment is moral and not physical. They believe there is no Hell. They do not maintain that salvation is merited through these sufferings.
- #2 Those who teach that all the punishment for sin occurs in this life and that God's discipline in our lives is for the purpose of purifying us, though this purification is not our merit for salvation. In eternity, there will be a loss of reward for those who did not trust in Christ in this lifetime.
Christian Universalists claim to hold many of the tenets of historic Christianity: Trinity, deity of Christ, deity of the Holy Spirit, salvation by grace, etc. It is always necessary to ask what is meant by the terms they use because of the great difference that exists in Universalist beliefs.
Christian universalists claim to affirm:
- The inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible.
They seem to hold to the orthodox position.
- There is only one God. Most Universalists who claim the title "Christian Universalists" do not accept Biblical doctrine of the Trinity, but lean more towards either Arianism (God is One Person, Jesus is created) to modalism (God takes different forms in history). This is heresy!
Jesus is the Son of the Living God!
- Some hold that Jesus is not God but that He is divine. This is very confusing since divinity is a quality of God, NOT angels or men.
- Jesus' Resurrection.
Most Christian Universalists affirm the physical resurrection of Jesus. But, some claim that He did not rise from the dead physically, but was assumed into Heaven to dwell with God.
- The Holy Spirit is God's Presence.
There is a common denial of the personhood of the Holy Spirit. (personhood is self-awareness, a will, the ability to speak, etc.). This is a serious error on the part of those who hold to it. But, many Universalists agree that the Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Godhead.
- Some Universalists believe
in consciousness after death, others do not.
- Some believe
in limited punishment of sinners in a type of Hell that is not of fire, but of some moral chastising.
- That punishment in the afterlife was for a limited period during which the soul was purified and prepared for eternity in the presence of God. Sounds like the Catholic Purgatory!
"Christian Universalism" really is NOT "Christian" because it is mixed together with many other unorthodox and FALSE teachings. This FALSE belief system should be avoided like the plague.
Something that I had to add!
Eph.4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (KJV)
1 Tim.4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
[2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV)
2 Tim. 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (KJV)
Luke 18:7-8 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (KJV)
There is SO much extra-biblical literature out there today for supposed "Christians"! Most is man-made trash! (Mat.15:9). The vast majority should be avoided. People want to know about God. That is good! BUT, they should be very careful what they read. WHY won't these people pick up the Bible . . . the KJV of the Bible? It clearly tells us of God's awesome characteristics. "I can't understand," many say. Jesus tells us IF we hunger and thirst after righteousness, we shall be filled (Mat.5:6). BELIEVE it! Do NOT read what man thinks of God. Most are way off base! Read what God says about Himself and eternity. Read the TRUTH!!!
I have heard about, but never read "The Shack." But I recently read a brief review of this ungodly mess! I certainly have no desire to read any further! What a Satanic work this is! NO respect for God! NO reverence for God! NO consideration whatsoever for God's power! Calling Almighty God "Papa" is in my humble opinion complete disrespect and actual blasphemy! The writer says there will be NO judgment. He certainly has NOT read the Scriptures! JUDGMENT is sure! JUDGMENT is certain! The Great White Throne Judgment awaits ALL those who refuse to believe God (Rev.20:11-15; Mat.7:23; 8:12; 13:50; 22:13; 25:41,46; John 5:28-29; Ps.11:6; Isa.66:24; 1 John 5:10-13).
Rev.20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) The Lake of Fire (Hell) will be the eternal home of most of the world according to God (Mat.7:13-14).
2 Thes.1:7-10 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; [10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. (KJV) Everlasting destruction is HELL!
So . . . what else upset me with this horrible trash? The writer is a UNIVERSALIST! He THINKS all people will go to Heaven. Oh! How wrong he is! But, this is what people want to hear, so they eat it up (2 Tim.4:3-4 above). Life is brief (Ps.78:39; 102:11; 144:4; Ec.1:4; Mat.25:13). One day this man and all who read his trash and think it is OK will stand before their Maker! I wonder just how much mercy God will show to them.
Ecc.12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (KJV) The writer and the people who lap up his ungodly filth must not believe this! But friend, everything in the Word of God is TRUE! You shall DIE one day! And when you die, you go immediately into God's awesome Presence! A TRUE believer's death places him/her with their Saviour and Lord in Heaven (2 Cor.5:8). But the Bible clearly tells us NOTHING bad shall ever enter into Heaven (2 Pet.3:13; Rev.21:8,27; 22:15). So, there is NO chance whatsoever that the wicked will enter Heaven! When Lazarus and the rich man died, Lazarus went to Abraham's Bosom (Heaven) but the ungodly rich man went to Hell (Luke 16:19-31). There most certainly IS an eternal Hell! There most certainly is a Judgment day! There most certainly is punishment for sin! God has NOT changed! He will NEVER change (Mal.3:6; Heb.13:8). BEWARE!!!
The writer even says that the devil and the demons will one day be in Heaven! This is utterly ridiculous! This is so NOT true! They most certainly shall go to HELL (Mat.25:41; Rev.20:10).
My precious Jesus in this book is a giggling "good ol' boy" who says his big nose comes from Mary's side of the family. Sickening!
"Papa" in this ungodly horror is an illiterate and very crude overweight black woman. This is where I stopped reading the review of this "best selling" book. I simply could not tolerate any more disrespect for MY God!
